Eyelash Extensions

The Ultimate Lash Perk Nap While I Lash

Public Service Announcement

Getting Eyelash Extensions should not be painful!” I repeat,  “Getting Eyelash Extensions should not be painful!”

It saddens me that I have to say this.   But the truth is that many people think it’s supposed to be an uncomfortable service.  Yes, lying on your back for up to 2 hours may have you a lil achy, but your eye area should be completely trauma free.   What you should feel is your lash artist adjusting your head and light pressure on different areas of your face while they meticulously work their magic, but “ouch!” is a no no.  If that is an experience that you have had or heard about then I would avoid at all cost.

When done correctly, the process of getting eyelash extensions is completely comfortable.

So comfortable in fact that many clients go to sleep.  The ‘Lash Nap’ is one of the most refreshing (physically and mentally) naps you can have.  During the eyelash extension process, your eyes must remain closed and it is best that you remain as still as possible.  If you are lucky, you will have a blanket and some soothing tunes to lull you off to sleep.   By the end of your service, you will wake up rested and with a new set or a restored set of eye candy to continue on with your day.

I used to work in an open layout salon with about 7 lash beds lined up - talk about distractions galore.  People were constantly walking back and forth and having loud conversations resulting in the least relaxing environment ever.  Hearing all that hustle and bustle really takes away from the enjoyment of the service.

I knew from that experience that I would have a private studio so that my clients could feel pampered in the way that they deserve.  No interruption, just peace is what you should expect during an eyelash extensions service.  In fact, I use lavender oil to help promote a calm tranquil environment for all my clients and only allow one client in the studio per service.

Don’t sell yourself short and settle for an experience that is both distracting and uncomfortable.  Seek out the best and enjoy it the fullest...your worth it.

I mentioned previously that there are almost limitless options for lash styles and so many different combinations to make unique sets.  Today I’m going to highlight the different lash curls available to you to get the look that you want.  The lash curl helps contribute to the drama a chosen look will give.  The stronger the curl, the more noticeable to the eye your lashes will look.  The more natural the curl, the less impact it will have in the overall appearance of the look.

Clients will choose a natural curl if they don’t want their lashes to be obvious.  These clients usually just want a mild enhancement prominent enough to replace mascara and forgo makeup.  The stronger more dramatic curls are for the “Bam! Look at me" women.  They want the impact dynamic enough to turn heads and look ready for the next party.

There are 5 Main Lash Curls

There are 5 Main Lash Curls

There are 5 main lash curls to choose from.  Those curls are J, B, C, D, and L.  The letters signify the curve of the lash.

J - Curl

The J Curl is a flat lash with a slight hook at the end.  This lash is ideal for clients who like long straight lashes with just a little curl.  Most clients will want to get an eye opener look so it may not be commonly requested, but I keep it in stock for those rare clients who like long straight lashes.

B –Curl

The B Curl is a natural curl that mimics the look of most natural lashes.  I call this the safe curl, as it won’t scare a first time lash wearer.   It normally gives just enough umph to make a difference but still leave people wondering what changed about your appearance.

C - Curl

The C- Curl is the most commonly used curl on the market.  It lies smack in the middle of natural and dramatic and delivers a satisfying amount of lift for most clients.  It’s a good choice for almost any set of natural lashes.

D - Curl

The D-Curl is the strongest curl on the market.  If you want to get noticed, this is the most dramatic curl.  By placing the longest eyelash extensions in the center of the eye, it can really open the eye up creating a doe eyed look.

L - Curl

The L- Curl is fairly new to the market and best suited for deep-set eyes and clients with single eyelid.  It is perfect for clients who have straight lashes but want maximum lift.

Don’t be afraid to experiment.  You can try C - Curl and then go up to a D - Curl or even down to the B – Curl.  The sky is the limit.

Is Your Eye Shape Really that Important in Choosing a Eyelash Extensions Design? YES!

Over the years, I have come to realize that most people are not aware of how tedious and calculating a lash application can be.  About a year ago, I remember starting a new client (lets call her Amy) and 20min in, Amy asked me if we were almost done.  I'm sure Amy cried inside when I replied, "no, we have about an hour more to go."  Amy was totally misinformed about the service and clearly didn't know what she was signing up for.  We had quickly discussed her desired look (very full, very long) and started immediately, as she was running a lil late.    After a few more of those exhausting interactions, I really understood the importance of not just discussing the desired look, but also educating clients on all the factors that have to be considered to get the look desired.

Today we are going to focus on Eye Shapes.

The 'Cat-Eye' style is the most requested style.  It's sexy and different and really adds a cool look to your face..... BUT if you have a hooded or even downturned eye shape (see diagram above) the 'Cat Eye' style, which concentrates the longer lashes on the outer corners, could make your eyes appear droopy, ultimately giving the appearance of closing eyes.

I would recommend a 'Natural' style, which follows the natural shape or your lashes to better accentuate a hooded eye.

Similarly, let's say you have gorgeous, round, big eyes.   Applying eyelash extensions in a 'Doll' or 'Bambi' style (think of long, eye-opening, dramatic lashes that make the cartoon noise when you blink) may leave you looking startled and surprised.   Your eyes are naturally open and alert, so applying the 'Doll' style may be too much.

Instead a 'Natural' style or even a 'Cat Eye' would add a nice, sultry, sexy look to expertly balance out yet enhance your round eyes.

So you see, there are many considerations and with so many length, curl, and style options, your lash artist should choose and make recommendations based on YOUR look only.

This is why I offer an Advanced Eye Design Analysis and the shape of your eye is just one of the important factors that I cover.  This service is complimentary for a limited time only.  No obligations, just a 1 on 1 discussion of what would best suit your look.

It is very important to me that women interested in lashes understand what the service entails so the Advanced Eye Design Analysis is my free gift to you!

Eyelashes Extensions will help grow your Lashes!

Eyelash extensions had a pretty bad reputation in the past and it was mainly due to mediocrely trained artists.  You didn’t have to look hard to read about negative experiences and why the average women should avoid this new beauty enhancing service.

Thankfully, consistent developments of new artistry and quality products have spearheaded the recent renewed popularity of eyelash extensions that we are experiencing today.   In fact, it is now one of most popular beauty treatments available.

No longer a "celebrity luxury," the discussion now focuses on all the benefits that eyelash extensions has brought to the every day woman.

So how exactly can lash extensions help to grow your lashes?  It's quite simple actually:

The less you do the more your lashes will flourish!

If you think about all the eye rubbing you do to remove your mascara, or the 2 or 3 coats of mascara that you apply everyday- that constant manual manipulation is very irritating and can very well pull out your lashes before they are ready to shed.

Lets not forget about the lash curler!  I’ve seen so many damaged lashes due to improper use of lash curlers because clients were essentially ripping out their lashes.

With the proper weight, and style, eyelash extensions simply enhance your look.  In fact, when done properly, you can get eyelash extensions for years without taking a break while your natural lashes thrive underneath.  That is why it’s so important to receive custom designed lash sets from an experienced lash artist.

So have no fear, and ask a lot of questions and enjoy the amazing results!

Eyelash Extensions So Natural, Everyone Will Wonder

23cb12a3273901a6cfaa8f52bc580920.jpg

Eyelash Extensions do not have to be over the top and dramatic.  In fact, they were not designed to be.

The desire of clients to have fuller, longer lashes than what they were blessed with has forced artists to go beyond what a client’s natural lash could handle in terms of weight.  If a clients natural lash is 6mm long and very thin, then it would not be wise to place a thick 14mm long extension.  It may look nice, and it may last longer than anticipated, but over time permanent damage to the natural lash may result from the weight of the extension.

I know first hand that saying “No” can be difficult, as we all want to please.  We were all beginners at one point, simply wanting to give our client what they wanted.  But thank God for continuing education, revisions to professional standards, and a commitment to industry advancements.

The purpose of eyelash extensions is to replace the use of mascara

Eyelash Extensions were not meant to replace strip lashes or give that effect, especially with a classic 1:1 application.  When a lash artist stays within these natural standards, little to no damage is inflicted to the natural lash.  The client can enjoy the benefits of this service for years with no adverse effects.  If you have strong long lashes, you can achieve a longer fuller effect.  Like wise, if you have thin sparse lashes, your results will definitely be noticeable, but less impactful do to the restrictions of your natural lash.

But don’t fret if you have sparse lashes!   Russian Volume Lashes can get you that fuller yet natural look that classic can’t achieve.  I recommend a 2D-3D effect (2 or 3 super thin lashes applied to 1 of your natural lashes) that will give you a nice fluffy appearance to fill in the gaps in your lash line.

I will always recommend what is healthy and safest for your natural lash.

Trust me, the possibilities are absolutely endless.
